WHAT IS THE CYCLE TO WORK SCHEME?

To promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce environmental pollution, the 1999 Finance Act introduced an annual tax exemption which allowed employers to loan cycles and cyclists' safety equipment to employees as a tax-free benefit. This exemption, known as the Cycle to Work scheme was one of a series of measures introduced under the Government's Green Transport Plan.

Your employer will be able to advise on how to proceed with an application form. The Cycle to Work scheme providers will issue you with a certificate which, once authorised by your employer, can be exchanged for a bike and any safety equipment from Start Fitness.

HOW IT WORKS:

Once you have been issued your voucher from the cycle to work provider, purchasing your new bike and kit couldn't be easier!
Add the bike, clothing and accessories to the basket and checkout using the cycle to work scheme option.

You will then receive an email from us asking you to send copy of your voucher/certificate to cycletowork@startfitness.co.uk - we'll take care of the rest!

Bikes and accessories that are in the sale (reduced) will be subject to a surcharge if purchased using a Cycle to Work voucher. This will be 10% for most schemes, or 15% for bike orders placed with a Halfords Cycle 2 Work LOC Voucher. This is because all of the providers take a commission from the voucher which we're able to absorb on a full price bike.

From time to time, we may offer a special deal where a 'sale' bike will be eligible at the sale price through the Cycle to Work purchase. You will never be charged more than the RRP and we will not add anything to the price of any bike that is advertised at full RRP. Please contact us if you are unsure or would like to talk about purchasing a sale bike with the Cycle to Work scheme.

Cycle to Work providers do not contact Start Fitness to raise an order on your behalf after applying for the voucher. This will need to be done by you at the checkout once you have been issued with your voucher/certificate.
